Four words: Dumb and Dangerous precedent
How does capping an executive's pay at $500,000 make my life better? The answer of course is....it doesn't! It is mean spirited and plays on people's jealousy. The vast majority of CEO's work their asses off that high salary. They work 80+ hours a week for months on end, never see their families and their health suffers for it. They know that one wrong decision could mean the end of their company and the jobs of thousands. So yes, I say they are entitled to that 1.5 million or 2 million salary, most of them earn it. Yes, there are some greedy motherfuckers out there, guess what? You can't legislate away greed! EVER! So, you send the greedy dudes to jail, for long sentences. But you don't make everyone pay for a few greedy assholes.
Why in tough times do people hate on rich people? I don't hate rich people, I want to become one of those rich people! How is rich guy holding me down? It is so easy to play on class warfare in this country it is sickening. Are you going to feel better that the gummint is sticking it to rich guy?? "Yeah, take that rich dude, hahaha now you can't buy another car, oh wait a minute my life is still miserable, let's find someone else to blame!"
Those in favor of this better think twice. Once the government starts down a road of encroaching on rights and liberty, it rarely stops. After taking down big tobacco, they moved on to TransFat, next up is sugar, who knows what is next? What has happened to individual freedoms in this country?
Are we going to scrap the economic system that has worked for over two centuries because we are now in a rough patch? Do you honestly trust the economy to a bunch of fucking idiots on capital hill who can't even balance their own budgets and pay their own goddamn taxes on time?
